Haas and Flower Reading Response Essay ââ¬Å"If readers construct the meaning of texts, how does information transmission work?â⬠Through constructing the meaning of texts, a reader can interpret and summarize chunks of writing into something that is already processed by the reader. Personally, I know that if I begin reading a piece of text that I have never researched or learned in the past, obviously I cannot make an information transmission. On the other hand, when I read a piece of material that Ive learned in the past, it helps me to fully interpret and think critically on the topic. If a reader can complete a create a connection between past learning and the newer topic, the reader can construct a personal judgment or opinion. The readers thesis is then developed and the reader can fully absorb and accomplish what is a ââ¬Å"good read.â⬠ââ¬Å"What kinds of knowledge did you bring to this article that helped you make sense of it?â⬠The information I brought to the article was really a collection of teachings I received through high school. The knowledge to re-read text if I dont fully comprehend the authors point. Also the ability to stop and evaluate the text to figure out what Haas and Flower were trying to explain. I received fairly intensive English courses in high school, from which I was able to transmission my past lessons to the text Haas and Flower presented. Without trying to sound repetitive, I was able to pick apart phrases of the text that I simply didnt understand, even by rereading, and use the context to help make snese of the wording Haas and Flower use.

The movie is the first of the trilogy of the Super man series , The story unfolds on Planet krypton , where General Zod ( Michael Shannon ) , playing the antagonist , is staging a coup against the existing leadership on the grounds of being responsible to save the future of Planet Krypton , but is resisted by Jor ââ¬â El (Russell Crowe ) & Faora ââ¬â Ul (Antje Traue) , who enact the roles of father and mother of Kal ââ¬â el , their infant Son . Upon resistance and growing difference of opinion and animosity between Jor ââ¬â El and General Zod over the fate of planet Krypton`s existence, Jor ââ¬â El and Faora ââ¬â Ul , decide to transport their infant son Kal ââ¬â el to a distant world called ââ¬Å"EARTHâ⬠. Along with the space continuum, carrying the infant consists the DNA of Krypton (Codex), to make certain of its continued existence even at the after math of Planet Krypton. Mean while General Zod and his allies are over powered by the Law enforcers of Krypton and are sentenced for eternity in a Black hole prison. The unfolding of these events although brief has a sense of emotional condemnation which grips the Audience. In comparison to previous versions, the plot is quite engaging with brilliant VFX to back it up. The plot further unfolds after the space continuum crash lands into his foster parents Kevin Costner ââ¬â (Jonathan Kent) & Diane Lane ââ¬â (Martha Kent) , The portrayal of Super Man`s child hood and teenage days and his struggle to battle his angst and bulliyism , is well showcased by Director Zack Snyder , the way in which the child hood days are interspersed in bouts of flash backs , into the ongoing story line is also quite brilliant , which deviates from the usual script and storytelling flow gives weight age ... ... once you do get to the tail end of the film, which essentially showers you in extensive destruction that becomes rather boring, too. The fighting looks great, but how many times can we see a building crumble or Superman zip through a fiery setting before enough is enough? But even more detrimental than the repetition is the fact that itââ¬â¢s hard to care. Thereââ¬â¢s one instance of peril in ââ¬Å"Man of Steelâ⬠that will have you at the edge of your seat, pained by the thought that someoneââ¬â¢s about to bite it, but its part of a flashback so thanks to the odd formatting of this film, it has absolutely no impact on the current threat. All that being said, I thought it was a noble first effort to reboot a storied franchise. The film did an excellent job of setting up a classic superhero in the midst of our modern world. If only $225 million could buy a film some emotion, too.

Martin Luther Kings Shattered Dream I have a dream is a phrase heard by more than 200,000 Americans on August 28, 1963, and since then, Martin Luther King, Jr.s I have a dream has resonated through millions of heads and thoughts in the world. Eyes search for the reality of his dream, ears search for the freedom bells ringing, hands search for a brothers hand, and mouths search for the songs of freedom. Martin Luther King, Jr. dreamed of a utopia where the colors of black and white would become so intertwined that shades of gray would appeared. Martin Luther King, Jr. charged the American people to go out and create a perfect place, and many people have tried, but as long as antiquated moral values remain, America will neverâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Black people can vote, run for political office, have a job other than being a servant or maid, and are looked upon as citizens of the United States. Black people have achieved freedom from government regulation. However, even with this freedom, black men and women are still oppressed by white people, which holds America back from realizing Kings dream. Law no longer segregates schools, but there are still separate schools. In Chattanooga, there are several schools that are primarily black, Howard High School and Eastside Elementary, while at other schools, such as McCallie one sees only a few black faces in a sea of white. Churches are the same way: Brainerd Presbyterian Church moved from Brainerd Road because they were not able to reach the black community, and so they gave their church building to Friendship Baptist, a predominantly black church. Housing areas are separated, not by law, but by practice: Martin Luther King Boulevard, Alton Park, 4th Street Courts, and the Harriet Tubs Housing Project are all considered bad areas of town because of the majority of black families.
